For the chicken
  1. 5 Tbsp oil
  2. 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  3. 3-5 Tbsp cornflour
  4. 3/4 cup flour
  5. ½ tsp salt
  6. ½ tsp pepper
  7. ½ tsp garlic salt
  8. 2 tsp paprika
  9. 2 chicken breasts, cut into bite-size chunks
  10. sesame seeds
For the sauce
  1. 1 Tbsp sesame oil
  2. 1 tsp chopped or crushed garlic
  3. 1 Tbsp Chinese rice vinegar
  4. 2 Tbsp honey
  5. 3 Tbsp ketchup
  6. 2 Tbsp brown sugar
  7. 4 Tbsp soy sauce
  1. Heat the oil in a large frying pan until very hot.
  2. Set up three bowls for dredging the chicken: cornstarch, egg and flour mixture (flour, salt, pepper, garlic salt and paprika mixed together).
  3. Dredge the chicken then cook until browned and cooked through. Set aside on a paper towel when cooked.
  4. Add all of the sauce ingredients to the hot pan, cook on a high heat until the sauce reduces by about a third (should take 2-3 minutes).
  5. Add the chicken back in and toss in the sauce to coat. Cook for 1-2 minutes.
  6. Sprinkle with sesame seeds at the end, or when served.
  1. I served mine with chicken fried rice. You could use plain rice or chow mein instead!
